Artwork Guidelines

Creating the ideal custom packaging is like crafting a perfect recipe—it’s all about using the right ingredients. Our artwork guidelines provide a detailed set of recommendations to ensure a smooth and efficient design process.

And don’t forget, we offer complimentary in-house design support to all our customers. If you need additional assistance or expert advice, we’re here to help.

Let’s get started!

Preferred Files:

To turn your packaging vision into reality, please submit either editable or outlined vector-based AI design files. We also accept EPS, SVG, or PDF files, provided they are editable and vector-based.

We know some teams use CDR or PSD files, but these can be tricky for our packaging experts to work with. While we can accept these file types, your project may take a bit longer and cost more. For the smoothest process, we recommend sticking to the preferred formats.

Got questions about file types? Don’t hesitate to reach out — our team is happy to help!

Colors:

For printing, we use CMYK or Pantone inks. If your brand uses a specific color palette, we recommend going with Pantone printing over CMYK. Pantone ensures better consistency across all print runs, while CMYK can vary slightly depending on the machine.

If you’re working with RGB colors, don’t worry! Our system will automatically convert them to CMYK. We’ll also share a digital proof before printing, ensuring you’re happy with the color results.

Font:

Please outline all fonts used in your design within the file. If you’re using a unique or paid font, provide it in a separate document. We take your privacy seriously — your in-house font will never be shared or used for another client.

A few important tips for fonts and text:

  • Ensure the text is at least 8pt. Small fonts may look good on screen but may not print clearly.
  • Use bold colors made up of one or two inks (C, M, Y, K) for better print clarity.
  • Keep in mind that artwork registration can vary by up to 1/8 of an inch.
  • Include at least a 0.25-inch bleed in areas where graphics extend past the dieline.
  • For solid or dark lines, make sure they’re no thinner than 1 point.
  • Ensure all fonts are embedded or outlined.
  • Save your designs using the ‘Adobe PDF/X-1a’ preset, when possible.

Support Graphics:

Great graphics make packaging stand out. Double-check that all links in your file are embedded and working before sending it to us. Alternatively, you can send your graphics separately in a zip file — whichever works best for your team.

Dieline:

For a flawless design, make sure your dieline is correctly set up. A dieline ensures that your packaging cuts and folds precisely as intended. If you prefer, you can share the dieline separately from the main artwork, and we’ll integrate it seamlessly. For a flawless design, make sure your dieline is correctly set up. UPC’s/Barcodes:

To avoid issues with scanning, ensure your barcode images are in high-definition and large enough to be easily scanned. If you’re unsure about the best size or proportions for your barcode, send it separately. We’ll work with you to ensure it’s incorporated into your design in the most effective way.
